Motorists who use Port Moody’s Murray Street could be facing some significant disruptions to their driving routines beginning in September when the city begins several upgrades including the replacement of an aging watermain. The project, which is jointly funded by the city and TransLink, is expected to take until June, 2020, to be completed.
On May 16, from 4 to 7 p.m., the city will be hosting an information session about those upgrades at the Old Mill Boathouse (2715 Esplanade St.)
Aside from the watermain construction, the project also includes:
• a new traffic signal at the intersection of Murray and Moody streets
• new pedestrian-activated traffic signals at the east and west entrances to the parking lot at Rocky Point park
• modifications to the layout of that lot
• new multi-use paths along the south side of the 2700-block and north side of the 2800-block of Murray Street
• improvements to landscaping features around the Port Moody Station Museum
City staff will be present at the information session to answer questions about the project’s design, anticipated timeline as well as strategies for managing traffic.
