Gates to 47th Golden Spike Days Fest in Port Moody open Saturday

Trooper headlines the 47th annual July 1 long weekend event on Sunday, June 30, at 8 p.m.

A band that was inducted into Canada’s Walk of Fame last year will headline the Golden Spike Days Festival in Port Moody during the Canada Day long weekend.

On Sunday, June 30, Trooper will hit the stage at 8 p.m. at Rocky Point Park (2800-block of Murray Street) to perform some of its hits over the past nearly five decades, including:

  • “We’re Here for a Good Time (Not a Long Time)”
  • “Raise a Little Hell”
  • “Two For The Show”
  • “The Boys in the Bright White Sportscar”
  • “Pretty Lady”

A JUNO award-winning group, Trooper is now made up of Paul Laine on vocals, Steve Crane and Scott Brown on guitar, Gogo on piano and Clayton Hill on drums. And following its show, the musicians will hold a meet and greet to talk with concert-goers and pose for photos, starting at 9:40 p.m.

A presentation by the City of Port Moody, Trooper’s appearance at the 47th annual Golden Spike Days is part of the band’s cross-Canada summer tour; its next stop is the Calgary Stampede on July 6 before it plays Parksville’s Beach Festival on July 13.

Organized by the Golden Spike Days Society, a volunteer-driven, nonprofit group, the event is sponsored in part by the Tri-City News.

Admission is by donation at the gates.
