Five more businesses have been shut down in the Fraser Health region due to coronavirus (COVID-19) transmission in the workplace.
Under new guidelines established by public health officials earlier this month, health authorities and WorkSafeBC can close down a place of business if there has been multiple COVID-19 cases tied to the location. Those closures are posted online by each health authority.
In its first three days of reporting, Fraser Health closed down two dozen businesses in the region, including restaurants, retail stores, and even the Maple Ridge outpost of Service BC. Additionally, the entire Sasquatch Mountain Resort in the Fraser Valley was shut down by authorities, and is the focus of a COVID-19 public exposure warning.
On April 16, Fraser Health updated its listings to indicate which area businesses were newly-shuttered on April 15. Here are the new workplace closures in the Fraser Health region:
- Highline Mushrooms - Langley (Trademark Farm): 3392 224th Street, Langley
- Club 16 Trevor Linden Fitness - Brentwood: 4199 Lougheed Highway, Burnaby
- S&R Sawmills Ltd.: 19559 98A Avenue, Surrey
- McDonalds #3871: 10250 152 Street, Surrey
- Club 16 Trevor Linden Fitness - Abbotsford: 32560 Simon Avenue, Abbotsford
On April 11, the McDonalds at 10250 152 Street in Surrey reported an employee had been confirmed as having COVID-19; that staff member's last shift worked was on April 9.
In regards to the Trevor Linden Fitness facilities, the company has published information about the closures, indicating that members may have been exposed to the virus at the locations on certain days.
If you have been in the Brentwood location on the following days you may have been exposed to COVID19: March 29 from 3-4 p.m.; April 1 from 7-8:30 a.m.; April 2 from 7-8:30 a.m.; April 6 from 4:30-5:30 p.m. and 6-7:30 p.m.; April 7 from 3:30-4 p.m.; and April 8 from 6-7:30 p.m.
Trevor Linden Fitness did not indicate any specific exposure dates for its Abbotsford club location.
While not listed in its last update by Fraser Health as a workplace closure, the Trevor Linden Fitness location in South Burnaby is also temporarily closed, and is advising members they may have been exposed to COVID-19 on the premises on April 5.
Workplace closures due to COVID-19 cases are typically in place for 10 days.
