Fraser Health hosted a pop-up immunization clinic at Port Moody's Rocky Point Park on July 17, 2021.

Vaccinations against COVID-19 appear to be on the rise in the Tri-Cities.

And just for good measure, Fraser Health is setting up another local special-event clinic in an effort to reach out to those that still would like to have a jab in the shoulder.

The authority is scheduled to have nurses and healthcare workers administer vaccines on Tuesday (Sept. 28) at the Electrical Joint Training Committee institution in Port Coquitlam — located at 1405 Broadway St. south of the Mary Hill Bypass.

Eligible residents aged 12 years and older in need of a first or second dose are welcome to walk up to the clinic between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. that day as capacity and supplies allow.

No personal health number or appointment is required.

However, those seeking a second dose are encouraged to bring their paper immunization record card.

In Port Coquitlam's local health area, 82 per cent of eligible residents have been administered two doses and 88 per cent with just one.

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) says the Tri-Cities currently holds an 83.2 per cent double-vaccination rate among eligible residents.

Its latest surveillance data adds southwest Coquitlam recently reached a 90 per cent first-dose vaccination rate between Sept. 13 and 19 — the first surveillance neighbourhood in the region to do so.

Port Moody-Anmore-Belcarra has the highest double-dose rate at 85 per cent.

Meanwhile, the mass immunization clinic in the Coquitlam Central Station remains ongoing.

The overflow parking lot is taking walk-ins for first or second doses as capacity and supplies allow, and is under new operating hours to accommodate Fraser Health's strategy shift for the fall.

It's open seven days a week as follows:

  • 2900 Barnet Hwy.
  • 9:45 a.m. to 8 p.m. = Monday to Friday
  • 9:45 a.m. to 4 p.m. = Saturdays, Sundays and holidays
    • Entrance off Mariner Way — east side of Rona. Proceed down the ramp and turn right
    • The address will direct you to the main lot on the left but COVID-19 Services are located in the overflow lot to the right
    • Do not cut through the Rona parking lot. Please follow the signs
