Traffic changes are coming to the North Road and Cottonwood Avenue area as part of Evergreen Line construction.
Starting this week, crews will be removing and installing curbs to establish traffic pattern changes for Cottonwood. For approximately two weeks, while the roadworks are underway, drivers can expect the following traffic pattern changes:
No right turn on to Cottonwood from the northbound lanes of North Road
No right turn on to North Road from westbound lanes of Cottonwood
Local residents may need to use Foster Avenue and Whiting Way to access Cottonwood while work is underway.
Drivers may experience daytime lane closures on North Road/Clarke Road between Foster Avenue and Smith Avenue, as well as temporary parking restrictions on North Road and Cottonwood Avenue.
Once the work is complete, the permanent traffic changes mean drivers heading north on North Road will still be able to make right turns on to Cottonwood but drivers travelling west on Cottonwood will not be able to access North Road.
Eastbound and westbound traffic along Cottonwood will be maintained east of Whiting Way.
Construction of the elevated guideway in the North Road area should be complete by the end of this summer. Once it's finished, the launching truss will be dismantled and then reassembled to build the elevated guideway along Pinetree Way.
Road reconstruction along Clarke Road and North Road, including median construction, street light and signal work, utility works, paving and landscaping will be ongoing until the fall. The hours of work will be mainly 6 a.m. to 8 p.m., Monday to Saturday, but there may be some overnight work to minimize traffic impacts.
