Demolition started this week to make way for the new Port Coquitlam recreation complex.
The $132-million capital project — one of the biggest on the books for the municipality — will see the current centre replaced with a 205,000-sq. ft. facility that, when complete in the summer of 2021, will include a third sheet of ice, a leisure pool and the Terry Fox Library, among other amenities.
Meanwhile, the complex remains open during the construction phase.
