Coquitlam's Austin Heights BIA says robbery suspect may have been arrested

The Austin Heights Business Improvement Association said they have been informed by police that a suspect believed to be linked to at least one robbery in the area has been apprehended.

The Austin Heights Business Improvement Association said they have been informed by police that a suspect believed to be linked to at least one robbery in the area has been apprehended.

A string of robberies have plagued shops in the neighborhood since the summer, including an incident at the Remedy's Rx Drug store on next to the Community Police Station on Ridgeway Avenue, where a suspect demanded money and prescriptions.

In August, the Coqutitlam RCMP released a description of a suspect they said they believed was involved in at least three of the robberies. Police said investigators have been working closely with members of the Austin Heights Business Improvement Association and urged shop-owners in the area to remain vigilant.

Many business owners in the area told The Tri-City News in September that they were concerned about the crime issues in the neighbourhood since the robberies began.

Coquitlam RCMP said they will have more information regarding the arrest on Tuesday.
