There's been a rash of lost items in Coquitlam — and some of them are valuable.
Now, the Coquitlam RCMP is looking to return these belongings to the "rightful owners."
In a news release today (Aug. 25), local Mounties put out a call for the owners of three items that are being held after they were returned to the police detachment, located at 2986 Guildford Way.
- $100 bills - 2023-20087
- Police recovered an envelope of cash on the ground near Sugarpine Court and Plateau Boulevard in Westwood Plateau on July 27. The money is believed to have been dropped accidently by its owner. The amount of cash has not been disclosed.
- Gold watch - 2023-20403
- On Aug. 1, a gold faceplate watch with a black leather band was provided to the police from staff at the Hard Rock Casino, located at 2081 United Blvd. in Coquitlam. The watch was lost within the casino and turned over to the police in an attempt to locate the owner.
- Designer bag - 2023-21028
- Police recovered a small black Kate Spade backpack from Safeway located at 580 Clarke Rd. in Coquitlam on Aug. 8. The backpack was reported to have been left in the store sometime in the last month.
All claimants are required to prove ownership to police prior to the items being returned.
Anyone with information about these recovered items is asked to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550.
Found property is routinely turned in to local police stations in the hopes of reuniting them with their owners. Police attempt to locate the owners through the course of an investigation, but sometimes can not reunite the items.
