Police seek video of person vandalizing cars on Coquitlam street

A man was arrested after vehicles were damaged near Coquitlam's Maillardville neighbourhood, and RCMP are looking for more victims and possible video.

Coquitlam RCMP are looking for video footage of a "suspicious" incident as multiple vehicles were vandalized near Maillardville the night of Aug. 22, 2023.

Coquitlam Mounties are seeking video of someone damaging cars near Maillardville on Tuesday night (Aug. 22).

Multiple parked vehicles were damaged in an area of Marmont Street and Charland Avenue between 10 and 11:30 p.m. 

Officers responded to a report of a person damaging cars and quickly located and arrested a suspect.

Coquitlam RCMP are now looking for video and witnesses or potential additional victims.

It is believed the suspect travelled northbound from Brunette Avenue and Allard Street up to Marmont Street and Charland Avenue, where he was arrested.

The exact route is unknown.

"We want to thank the concerned resident for calling Coquitlam RCMP as soon as they saw something suspicious," stated Staff Sgt. Jolaine Percival in a news release.

"The report and information provided by the resident allowed our officers to quickly respond and locate the suspect."

Police are asking residents to check their CCTV and dash cam for video recorded on Aug. 22 between 9:30 and 11:45 p.m. for recordings of the suspect who is described as:

  • 5'10"
  • 170 pounds
  • Dark beard
  • Last seen wearing....
    • Red hat
    • Green shirt
    • Blue jeans
    • Black runners

Anyone who may have information or video footage of the suspect, or if your vehicle was damaged in this neighbourhood overnight, is asked to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2023-22592.
