Coquitlam RCMP looking to ID suspect in Super Bowl Sunday assault

Coquitlam RCMP are hoping to identify a man wanted in connection with an alleged assault at a Port Coquitlam bar after the Super Bowl last month. According to police, on Feb. 1 a 46-year-old man and his girlfriend were at the Cat and Fiddle Pub.

Coquitlam RCMP are hoping to identify a man wanted in connection with an alleged assault at a Port Coquitlam bar after the Super Bowl last month.

According to police, on Feb. 1 a 46-year-old man and his girlfriend were at the Cat and Fiddle Pub. Between 9:30 and 9:45 p.m., a group of four men approached the woman, making inappropriate comments and advances towards her.

A few moments later, the boyfriend asked the men to leave his girlfriend alone they allegedly assaulted him with a beer bottle and punched him multiple times. The suspects left the bar shortly after.

When the altercation was over, the staff at the pub helped the victim to a hospital, where he received treatment for his non-life-threatening injuries. After leaving the hospital, the victim went home and reported the assault to the police.

Investigators have obtained photos from CCTV footage inside the bar and are now asking for the public's assistance to identify one of the suspects. He's described as a Caucasian man about 45 years old, 5'11" tall and 250 lb. His left arm was in a blue or black sling.
