Coquitlam RCMP looking for sidewalk spitter in City Centre

It's the second spitting incident in a month that Coquitlam Mounties have responded to.

Coquitlam Mounties are trying to find a man who spat at a woman in the City Centre neighbourhood on Monday, June 24.

Police say the surprise attack happened at 6:15 p.m. as the adult woman was walking on the sidewalk of Ponderosa Street and Anson Avenue, near The Keg restaurant.

The suspect, who is not known to the woman, is described as:

  • a White male
  • in his late 40s
  • 5’6” tall
  • with a slim build
  • having medium-length curly brown hair
  • wearing a blue button-down shirt with three-quarter length sleeves
    • tan pants

He was also pulling a black bag on wheels, said the detachment’s spokesperson Cpl. Alexa Hodgins in a news release.

“This is an egregious and unprovoked assault,” she said in the release issued today, June 26. 

“We are asking anyone who may have information about this incident to contact our investigators. We are also asking anyone who may have witnessed this incident or may have video, including dash-camera or video surveillance from Monday, June 24, 2024, between 6 p.m. and 7 p.m. at Ponderosa Street and Anson Avenue in Coquitlam to contact Coquitlam RCMP.”

The incident comes a month after police reported a female employee at the McDonald's drive-thru at 2725 Barnet Hwy. in Coquitlam was spat on while she was taking an order from a man on a bike.
