Coquitlam RCMP are hoping the public can help them identify a suspect who allegedly tossed something similar to a Molotov cocktail inside a business at 2020 Oxford Connector in Port Coquitlam late last year.

According to police at about 6:45 p.m. on Oct. 29, 2014 the man smashed out the front windows of the business and tossed the incendiary device inside. A Good Samaritan was able to put out the fire before it could spread and it caused minimal damage.

"We believe the suspect may have accidentally cut or burned himself during the incident," said Cpl. Jamie Chung.

Investigators believe the suspect was casing the business several times about 10 minutes before the blaze was set. He may have been carrying a grey gym bag with red trim over his shoulder and a black laptop style bag.

It is unknown if the suspect is associated to any getaway vehicle.

Police are asking anyone who remembers someone complaining about cuts or burns to his hands or face on or shortly after Oct. 29, 2014, or who has information on the arson or the suspect, to call 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2014-30955 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
