Dante Fabbro’s NHL career as a Nashville Predator may be over.
The Coquitlam defenceman has been place on wavers by the team that drafted him 17th overall in the 2016 NHL draft.
If Fabbro isn’t claimed by another NHL team in the next 24 hours, he’ll be expected to report to the Rredators’ minor league affiliate, the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Fabbro, 26, has appeared in just six of Nashville’s 14 games so far this season, the last one on Oct. 28 against the Tampa Bay Lightning. He has no goals and no assists.
Fabbro has played 315 games with the Predators, scoring 16 goals and 72 points.
According to puckpedia.com, a website that tracks NHL contracts, Fabbro signed a one-year deal with Nashville last March that will pay him $2.5 million.
Fabbro attended Lord Baden-Powell elementary, Como Lake middle and Centennial secondary schools when he was growing up in Coquitlam. He honed his hockey skills at the Burnaby Winter Club then headed to the Penticton Vees of the BC Hockey League where he was named the junior circuit's best defenseman in 2015-16.
He then spent three seasons at Boston University, amassing 80 points in 112 games.
Fabbro has played for Canada at the U18 and U20 World Junior Hockey Championships as well as the IIHF World Championships in 2019.
