Coquitlam lacrosse stars to reunite at this upcoming Vancouver Warriors game

Defenders Remo Schenato and Robbie Turpin both played for the Minto Cup-winning Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs.

Former Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs runner Remo Schenato battles Orangeville Northmen defender Brian Jackman for control of a loose ball in the first period of their round-robin game at the Minto Cup national junior lacrosse championships, held at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex last August.

The best day for Coquitlam lacrosse fans might just be Jan. 10, 2025.

That’s when the game between the Vancouver Warriors and San Diego Seals at Rogers Arena will feature three grads from Dr. Charles Best Secondary School.

The Warriors recently signed former Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs defender Remo Schenato, whom the National Lacrosse League (NLL) team selected sixth overall in the 2024 entry draft.

“I think having a young B.C. guy that could potentially play for us for the next 10 years is big,” said Warriors general manager and head coach Curt Malawsky when he acquired Schenato.

“It’s going to be unreal, playing in front of the home crowd and an area that I grew up around my whole life,” said Schenato of joining the Warriors.

“It’s definitely going to be ideal.”

Schenato’s former Jr. Adanacs teammate and Charles Best classmate, Robbie Turpin, will be coming into town with the Seals.

San Diego selected Turpin 14th overall in September’s draft, one of three picks the team had in the first round.

He joined another Charles Best alumnus, Wes Berg, who’s the Seals’ captain.

Berg is in his fifth season in San Diego after he started his pro career with the Calgary Roughnecks where he played three seasons.

To celebrate the impromptu school reunion, the Warriors are even offering a special discount to current Dr. Charles Best students for tickets to the game.

Vancouver plays its first home game tonight, Dec. 13, against the Rochester Nighthawks, 7 p.m. at Rogers Arena.
