The 7-Eleven at Eagle Ridge Plaza in Coquitlam is closed for renovations.

7-Eleven has a motto that "we never close."

But that's not exactly true as shoppers who frequent one 7-Eleven have found out in recent weeks.

The 7-Eleven store at 1198 Lansdowne Dr. at Eagle Ridge Plaza is currently closed for renovations.

A worker on site said it's not yet known when the store will re-open.

There is construction fencing around the store and the windows are boarded up.

Another Coquitlam 7-Eleven was also recently closed for a few months after a fire.

The 7-Eleven convenience store on Austin Avenue held a grand re-opening in early January after it was renovated.

Among the changes were indoor washrooms, fresh paint and brand new coffee machines that make everything from lattés and hot chocolate to brewed Arabica coffee.

However, the changes are nothing like what is going on in Alberta, where 7-Eleven Canada opened seven licensed restaurants that allow customers to buy beer and wine along with their fried chicken and other snacks and enjoy sit-down dining as well as take-away and  delivery.

7-Eleven Inc. is based in Irving, Tex., and operates, franchises and/or licenses more than 13,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada.
