Coquitlam's Charlene Reaveley, a Pinetree Secondary School graduate, personal trainer and mother of four, was killed by a drunk driver in February 2011. A children's charity was established by her husband, Dan, in her memory.

A Coquitlam nonprofit that supports grieving children and families is holding a mini online auction this month.

But if you're thinking about bidding, act quick: The fundraiser ends on Friday, Sept. 22.

The Charlene Reaveley Children’s Charity Society (CRCCS) is offering 49 items in its fall auction such as:

  • tickets for two to a Vancouver Canucks game
  • a round of golf for four
  • a family portrait package
  • a two-hour home clean
  • personal fitness
  • bottles of wine

The society said it needs to collect more money as it is receiving double the number of applications for assistance.

As a result, it’s now turning away kids and families in mourning.

“This has created a sense of urgency,” CRCCS wrote in an email to its supporters.

Named after a Coquitlam mother of four who was killed by a drunk driver, the charity offers several programs to help kids who have lost a parent or sibling.

Its outreach includes counselling, bursaries for post-secondary schools, camps and activities.

“We all know that everyone will experience loss at some point in their lives, but not everyone will have the support or means to cope,” the CRCCS website states.
