A Coquitlam artist will present a solo mime show at the rEvolver Festival in Vancouver this weekend.

Joylyn Secunda is in The Routine, a work co-created and directed by Secunda’s father, David — a retired drama teacher in School District 43.

The pair rehearsed the physical comedy in their Coquitlam home.

Described as a mix of Death of a Salesman and Mr. Bean, The Routine follows a lonely office worker trying to seek connection and fulfilment.

The Edmonton Journal called The Routine one of the best from that city’s 2019 Fringe Festival.

Secunda, a physical theatre artist, actor, dancer and puppeteer who goes by the pronouns they/them, is best known for The Moaning Yoni that was performed across Canada.

Their past credits are also with the National Arts Centre, The Wonderheads, Monster Theatre, Mermaid Theatre, Presentation House, Théâtre la Seizième and Dell’Art International.
