More than 1,000 students, teachers and staff in School District 43 (SD43) tooted their horns and banged their drums for Music Monday, May 6, a nationwide movement celebrating and advocating for quality music education in classrooms from coast to coast.
Despite the wind gusts, the 32 ensembles from Tri-City elementary, middle and secondary schools gathered at Coquitlam's Town Centre Park from 9:15 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. to showcase their talents and play tunes ranging from Coast Salish songs to pop classics like "Sweet Caroline" and "Imagine."
Organized by Kathy Fester of the Coquitlam Music Teachers Association, the 16th annual music festival drew sponsorship from SD43 as well as Long & McQuade.
