Jeremy Lin of Coquitlam is in "Black Watch," a Douglas College production that runs March 28 to April 4, 2025.

A Coquitlam actor is cast in a military play that opens Friday at Douglas College.

Jeremy Lin is in Black Watch, a production by Gregory Burke that’s based on his interviews with former Scottish Black Watch soldiers who fought in the Iraq war.

The award-winning show reveals the emotions and experiences of eight soldiers who were not only on patrol but also caught up in an international controversy.

“The play offers a beautiful insight into what it is to be a soldier on the ground, thrust into the messy politics of modern warfare,” said director Deborah Neville in a news release. “Black Watch allows us into the hearts of these very young men who do their best in a close-to-impossible situation, where it is not always clear who is fighting who or why. We get a close-up look at the exhaustion, camaraderie, fear and boredom that comes with being a soldier.”

Due to its mature subject matter, the play is suitable for viewers ages 16 and up. There are also loud noises, strobe/flashing lights and haze/fog effects.
