Teri Towner sees herself as Coquitlam's number one cheerleader. "I'm very passionate about my community," she said. "I'm out and about all day long, talking to people. I feel that I am well-versed in the issues of everyday families and I can be the voice of those everyday working families and bring it to the council table." Towner said she stands out from other candidates because she has been involved in a wide range of activities including coaching sports, taking photos and being part of DPAC.
"I think I bring a real depth. I haven't just been in one facet of the community," said Towner, noting she has also been involved in campaigns for Mayor Richard Stewart and Port Moody Mayor Mike Clay. "I understand the importance of municipal-level government. I'm very enthusiastic about it and getting the right people elected."
If voted into office, Towner plans to make Coquitlam more affordable by inspecting each element of the budget as it were her own household financial plan, she said.
And on Riverview, Towner wants the land to be preserved and left "in public hands, for public purposes."
