Tri-Cities KidSport will be among the organizations benefiting from the "Orange You Glad You Helped a Kid" fundraiser hosted by Thrifty Foods stores.
From now until March 5, Thrifty Foods will donate $1 from the sale of every four-pound bag of certified organic Buck Brand navel oranges to a dozen KidSport chapters in B.C., including the Tri-Cities branch.
"As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the quality of life in our communities, the in-store campaign will help hundreds of children join organized sport activities like soccer, hockey and karate in the next year," stated Thrifty Foods general manager Jim Dores in a press release. "With a goal to send as many kids as possible into a season of sport, for the next three weeks
Thrifty Foods has been proudly supporting KidSport Canada through its Greater Victoria chapter since 2002. In that time, the organization has raised over $149,000 through the Thrifty Foods Kids Run (Victoria Marathon) registration fees and Thrifty Foods Corporate Golf Tournament donations.
Thrifty Foods was founded in 1977 in Victoria, BC. Today, Thrifty Foods, a banner of Sobeys Inc., has a total of 29 retail grocery stores across the Lower Mainland, throughout Vancouver Island and Saltspring Island.
