Business, mayors join forces to get information out on transit referendum

Business owners interesting in learning how the upcoming transit referendum affects them may want to attend an upcoming event organized by the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce.

Business owners interesting in learning how the upcoming transit referendum affects them may want to attend an upcoming event organized by the Tri-Cities Chamber of Commerce.

The Get Moving! Mixer will be held next Monday, March 9 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Wild Fig Lounge at the Executive Plaza Hotel, 405 North Rd., Coquitlam.

Online registration is available at www.tricitieschamber.com for the chance to network with business leaders and elected officials, find out about the Mayors' Transportation Plan and learn about the proposal to add a 0.5% increase to the sales tax in Metro Vancouver to raise funds for transportation.

Also, tomorrow, Tuesday, commuters will learn more about the referendum when Port Coquitlam Mayor Greg Moore visits the PoCo Westcoast Express Station. Moore, who is chair of Metro Vancouver, will be at the station between 6:45 a.m. and 8 a.m. encouraging riders to vote yes on the mail in ballot.
