Have you ever stood in awe at your local coffee shop and admired the talents of the baristas behind the counter?
Have you thought of becoming one yourself in your own home for friends and family?
A Port Coquitlam business is giving coffee lovers the chance to harness their skills through a series of in-person classes that teach the "best-of-the-best" techniques as well as explore the craft's creative side.
C Market Coffee — located at 110-820 Village Dr. in Fremont Village — is hosting sessions over the next several weeks, which include the fundamentals of drink mixing.
According to the three-hour barista syllabus, some of the techniques include grinder training, espresso machine operation, tamping, dosing and steaming.
In addition, interested students will experience a latte art component, showing how to use products to create a mug masterpiece.
Now, if you feel confident in your basic coffee-making abilities, C Market Coffee is also hosting separate latte art classes by some of B.C.'s best artists in the industry.
Basic classes are already sold out, but those that want to take on a challenge can sign up for the establishment's two-hour advanced sessions.
Designs are set to include rosettas, swans and tulips. Students will have the opportunity to create their own art, too.
But before being thrown into the fire, participants will learn fundamentals like improving espresso extraction and pouring habits.
