The Tri-Cities' three mayors are set to leave on their trip across Canada - in a motor home - after the Metro Vancouver board meeting on Friday.
Coquitlam' Richard Stewart, Port Coquitlam's Greg Moore and Port Moody's Mike Clay will drive a Fraserway RV for Town Haul, a journey that will see them speak with two dozen mayors in B.C., the prairies and Ontario on their way to the Federation of Canadian Municipalities' convention, which starts May 30 in Niagara Falls.
Moore told The Tri-City News the trio is getting emails from mayors in other jurisdictions who also want them to stop for a visit.
During the week, the three mayors plan to talk with elected officials about best municipal practices; they will also be blogging from their RV, in which Telus has installed a wireless internet connection (follow them on Twitter @townhaulcanada, Instagram @townhaulcanada and YouTube channel townhaulcanada).
The mayors plan to speak about Town Haul at FCM and will be reporting to their own councils when they return home.
Asked if any contentious Tri-City issues - such as the Fremont connector alignment between PoCo and Coquitlam - will also be broached during the seven days, Moore said, "Mike, Richard and I have an excellent relationship and we are constantly discussing issues that we have in common. We might not always agree on the direction forward but we have an open discussion."
