Anmore was among 27 B.C. communities this week to receive an "age-friendly" grant from the provincial government.
The village north of Port Moody is getting $19,910 from the Ministry of Health to help create programs or services for seniors living in that municipality.
The age-friendly planning and project grant program is a partnership between the government and the Union of British Columbia Municipalities. Applications are scored on a variety of factors, including goals, proposed activities, involvement of seniors and other key partners, budget, innovation and sustainability.
Since 2007, 117 communities have received funding to support age-friendly planning and projects around the province. Examples include ensuring services are more accessible, supporting transportation and social connection to help prevent social isolation, and improving the community by increasing garden and green space.
