Tony Fonta had some extra cleaning after his visit to Port Moody's RibFest at Rocky Point Park.

Until Dec. 31, the Tri-City News looks back on some of our favourite photos from 2024.

Each day, we are posting one image along with commentary about what it took to get that photo and the story it conveys.

Hands down, Port Moody’s RibFest is the tastiest assignment of the year.

Also the messiest.

Not only do I get to spend a Friday afternoon in the sunshine, but once I get enough photos in the camera, I can also enjoy a tasty lunch.

Tackling a story like this usually involves checking a series of boxes:

  • images of people standing in line
  • images of grillers engulfed in smoke
  • images of the live entertainment
  • images of the hawkers trying to entice people to their booth

But top of the list is getting a photo of somebody fully enjoying their visit to RibFest in all its sticky, gooey, deliciousness.

And when someone with a giant beard streaked with barbecue sauce is doing just that, I know my assignment is complete and it’s time for me to eat.
