As we get set to dive into the long weekend, we take stock of a long list of special Family Day events running from Saturday through the holiday Monday, Feb. 17. Here’s what to look forward to:

Family Day in the Park (all ages)
Join the Coquitlam Park Spark team for an afternoon of family fun in Town Centre Park. Participate in a variety of outdoor games and fun activities to celebrate Family Day.

Leigh Square creative fun
Where: Leigh Square
When: 9 a.m.–12 p.m.
Explore your creative side with hands on art activities for the entire family! This FREE event includes demonstrations of wood turning projects, such as spinning tops, bird houses, lidded boxes, bowls, honey dippers, and spurtles. Finish the day on a high note with an interactive rhythm making workshop with Daniel Duggan of Rhythm Resource.

Family Day Swim
Splash around in an all-ages afternoon swim at the Hyde Creek Recreation Centre.
Where: Hyde Creek Pool
When: 1 – 5 p.m.
* The weight room, squash and sacquetball courts will be open also be open from 1-5 p.m. but all drop-in sport and fitness classes are cancelled.
Family Day skate at the Port Coquitlam Rec Centre
Enjoy a free skate on Family Day. Note, a limited supply of free skate and helmet rentals will be available.
