A new experimental music festival is set to run in Vancouver next month, with a Coquitlam musician performing in a free family concert.
Zhongxi Wu, who plays the suona/sheng, is part of the B.C. Chinese Music Ensemble that will be at The Roundhouse (181 Roundhouse Mews) on Nov. 6 as part of the 2022 Modulus Festival.
The suona/sheng is a a traditional instrument that dates back to the third century, and is common in northern Chinese folk music.
It has a loud, high-pitched sound normally used in outdoor ensemble performances.
Organized by Music on Main, the fest happens from Nov. 3 to 8 at The Roundhouse, Annex, Left of Main and The Ironworks.
