The Better Business Bureau of B.C. issued an advisory this week about a Coquitlam-based dance and drama school that appears to have shut its doors for good.
BBB claims many parents have been charged for dance classes at C.A.P.A. - the Canadian Academy of Performing Arts - that were still outstanding, and dance costumes have gone undelivered.
The organization said in a news release on Monday it had sent a letter to C.A.P.A. last month regarding complaints about billing, sales practice, customer service and other issues; however, there was no response.
To date, BBB has received about nine complaints over the past 36 months.
"Most consumers do not expect a business they are in an on-going relationship with to suddenly close," BBB Lower Mainland president Danielle Primrose said in the release. "In this case, we saw some early warning signs due to the company failing to respond to complaints."
C.A.P.A. has been operating since 2006 under Ginny Ludwig and has locations in Coquitlam, Port Moody and Pitt Meadows. A call to C.A.P.A. was not immediately returned.
