CM Bhatt, legendary co-founder of Aroma Indian Restaurant and Lounge, Port Moody’s leading authentic Indian dining experience, has a theory as to why so many of Aroma’s Lower Mainland customers keep coming back.
“Atithi Devo Bhavah is a Sanskrit verse which simply means – consider the guest as God,” says Bhatt, who, along with partners Hardeep and Gurdeep, opened his original location of the Aroma concept in Port Coquitlam in 2003.
“The saying stems from an ancient scripture in Hindi religion,” he adds. “It’s the essence of Indian culture—and it describes how we treat our customers too.”
Moving to a beautiful new location in Port Moody in 2011, Aroma Indian Restaurant and Lounge really took off. Today, the award-winning restaurant boasts a kitchen staff with over 25 years of experience and a chef who honed his skills in some of India’s finest 5-star establishments.
Aroma Indian Restaurant and Lounge offers a wide-ranging Indian menu that includes chicken, lamb and goat specialities, along with several delicious—and ultra-healthy—vegetarian options. In the last four years, they have become the highest-searched local Indian restaurant on well-known food sites such as Urban Spoon, Zomato and Yelp.
“The reviews about our food have been exceptional, but we also offer really good entertainment on the weekend,” said Bhatt. “Friday nights are jazz, and Saturdays a magician comes in. In addition to offering great food, we try to make it as much of a family-friendly experience as possible.”
Deeply connected to the community, Aroma Indian Restaurant and Lounge regularly pairs with election campaigns, high school graduations, shelter homes and even Sky line train workers for food events and special catering services.
