There’s a chiropractor for back pain, a massage therapist for shin splints and acupuncturists for neck discomfort.
But what if you want to just chill, feel great and be taken on an intercontinental voyage of total Zen and relaxation?
Enter Sabai Thai Spa, where the essence of Thai hospitality and wellness engages all your senses.
A true retreat
“We’ve been a mainstay in offering something where you get a mental escape alongside a backdrop where you feel like you've gone somewhere,” says company co-owner Jacques Goutier. “But at the same time, you're also getting a wellness service, where you're reducing that stress and attention threshold in your body and it's taking the edge off.”
Established in 2005 and now spread across seven Metro Vancouver locations, Sabai Thai Spa was an early adopter locally in Thai relaxation. Each spa offers a myriad of both holistic and practical services across flow, oil and fusion massages, pressure point alleviation, traditional Thai massages and any number of treatments that get you looking and feeling your best.
“I want to create an experience for people from the first step they walk into the spa so that they feel like they’ve travelled to Thailand without getting on an airplane,” says company co-founder Nuttha Goutier. “When you walk in, it feels like you’re in a traditional Thai house, with the smell of Thai herbs, lemon grass aroma and Thai music. When you leave, you feel renewed, relaxed, and as though you’ve brought a piece of Thailand back home with you.”
Franchise opportunities
The Goutiers now want to bring that experience further afield, across Metro Vancouver and out east, with a series of enticing franchise opportunities in major Canadian urban centres such as Calgary, Winnipeg, Toronto and more.
Owning a Sabai Thai Spa franchise offers future franchisees the opportunity to join an established and reputable brand with a unique Thai-inspired concept.
So what does the ideal franchisee possess?
A business-oriented mindset, knowledge about business operations and both managerial or operational experience. While experience in the spa or wellness industry is a plus, it is not a requirement.
The Goutiers, along with their internal teams, will provide comprehensive support, including marketing and operational guidance, site selection, assistance with building development, local advertising and vibrant social media presences.
“We have a plethora of training tools and training videos for the actual services themselves, but then we also help with protocols and around how you behave within the spa,” Jacques says. “And then we’ll also offer elements of sales training to support the retention and growth of the business over time.”
Last year alone, Sabai Thai Spa’s seven Metro Vancouver locations saw close to 65,000 customers. These numbers reflect Jacques’ belief that trends in contemporary wellness have shifted – where 15 years ago, many focused on intense gym workouts, now people are seeking a more holistic approach that nurtures the mind, body and soul.
“People want to escape or go on a holiday but maybe can’t commit to that,” Jacques says. “We give people that break they need, an opportunity just to chill or relax while still getting all the therapeutic benefits.”
