Cavalry FC goalkeeper Marco Carducci has been acclaimed president of Professional Footballers Association Canada.

Initially elected as first vice-president on PFA Canada’s founding board in 2020, Carducci has served as interim president since early 2022, helping guide the campaign to secure formal recognition as the collective bargaining agent of players with the Canadian Premier League.

“I’m incredibly proud and humbled to know I have the support of my fellow players, especially as we continue to negotiate a first collective agreement with the CPL," Carducci said in a statement. "I’m also happy to know I’ll be working alongside a team of active players who are committed to the growth of the professional game in Canada while doing what we can to ensure fairness, transparency and opportunities to grow on and off-the-pitch as athletes through collective bargaining.”

The rest of the PFA Canada leadership group was chosen at the organization's annual general meeting Tuesday:

— Ben Fisk, first vice-president (Vancouver FC).

— Callum Irving, second vice-president (Vancouver FC),

— Bradley Kamdem Fewo, treasurer (Cavalry FC).

— Manny Aparicio, director (Atletico Ottawa),

— Josh Heard, director (Pacific FC).
