What about the bottle collectors?

The Editor, I am writing in regards to the new recycling rules in Coquitlam. Although I understand it for the most part, the one thing that I find to be illogical is the fact that you can no longer put deposit items in your blue box.

The Editor,

I am writing in regards to the new recycling rules in Coquitlam. Although I understand it for the most part, the one thing that I find to be illogical is the fact that you can no longer put deposit items in your blue box.

In reality, these items were never actually picked up by the recycle truck. Those industrious people in the morning picked them up. Now they have to be physically brought in to the depot by the homeowner.

What about the people who have no car, don't drive or do not have the ability to get there? Those depots are not located close to everybody.

Not to mention, it has put these people who pick them up in the morning "out of a job" as it were. Probably a lot of people relied on that extra income. I would bet that more than a few people will feel "forced" to hide these items in their regular garbage now.

I am still going to put mine out in the hopes that they will still be picked up by the hard working, early risers. The people out before the recycle trucks, that is.
