The Editor,
Re. "Late-night transit crucial" (Letters, The Tri-City News, March 2).
In response to Rita Pollock's letter on late-night transit, I would guess that TransLink shuts down SkyTrain at night for maintenance work mostly, and partly for insufficient demand.
But there is still some demand for transit service and people wanting it are left with frustrating alternatives. I can suggest three possibilities to reduce and maybe eliminate problems with late-night transit:
Have measures to encourage/ensure special events like concerts are scheduled to end before transit services end.
Have overnight sleep cubicles so people can go home in the morning.
Get more people to plan their night-time activities to end before transit services end.
