Re: Be quiet! Port Coquitlam sets new noise limits amid hundreds of complaints (July 20, 2022)

I am absolutely appalled at Port Coquitlam’s decision to not allow any garden tool noise after 7 p.m.

It is obvious to me that no one making this decision has ever worked 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. with a one-and-a-half hour commute into Vancouver each way.

To think that you arrive home at 5:45 p.m. and cannot even eat your dinner because your grass needs to be mowed and you must meet the 7 p.m. deadline is absurd!

We have always taken incredible pride in our home’s lawn and gardens and to think that, on a beautiful summer evening when it stays light until 10 p.m., we cannot spend the time we want keeping it that way is appalling.

What happened to PoCo Pride when the city spent years promoting homeowners beautification of their lawns and gardens?

And where was the public consultation to make these changes?

The amount of complaints they received versus the population of PoCo does not justify their reasoning.

Needless to say, I am a disgusted taxpayer who has little faith in our current city council to make the right decisions where their citizens are concerned.
