Re: Polygon plans 148 townhomes at the base of Burke (The Tri-City News, Sept. 23, 2021)
After reading the article in the Tri-City News, I must say that I am very disturbed by what the City of Coquitlam is proposing regarding Polygon plans for building 148 townhomes on Victoria Drive and Cedar Drive.
First, we live close to Cedar Drive and we end up with all the traffic from Burke Mountain.
Ever since Coquitlam decided to build on that mountain, it has been a real disaster for us locals here in Port Coquitlam.
Second, what about our wildlife and environment?
The builders have already destroyed most of the mountain — from top to bottom.
Now, they are continuing with the lower part which is connected to the dyke and Minnekhada Regional Park. Is it any wonder that our wildlife is in danger and destroyed? I guess the moneymakers don't think about it.
The Heritage Mountain is completely gone because of building. Now, Burke Mountain is next in line; however, the traffic in Port Coquitlam cannot absorb it: We get it on Prairie Avenue, Coast Meridian and Cedar Drive — all coming from Burke Mountain.
Just think what this is going to do if they are going to build some new townhomes.
