Canada Day was a blast in Coquitlam

The Editor,

Re. "Canada Day made mess at Lafarge Lake & park" (Letters, The Tri-City News, July 4).

I'm sorry the letter writer, Helen Smyth, didn't join her friends and neighbours to celebrate the birth of our nation at Lafarge Lake for Canada Day. I can assure her that the event was wonderfully planned and attended.

My children had an awesome time. They have their Cantonese letters on their wall and the Korean clay pots made by a master artisan will be treasures all three of them will keep for a long time.

I'm sorry some people made a mess but I'm afraid if we stopped events because of the small minority of troublemakers, there wouldn't be any events in Coquitlam.

Thank you to all the sponsors and to the city for a fun, well-organized and proud celebration of Canada.

Further, I went for a walk Wednesday morning and the hard-working city staff had Lafarge looking perfect.
