Constituency associations across the Tri-Cities are now organizing for next year’s provincial election.

Yesterday (Sunday), BC Liberals in Port Moody-Coquitlam officially named James Robertson as the party candidate.

BC Liberal Leader Andrew Wilkinson and Iain Black, a former Tri-Cities BC Liberal MLA, attended the nomination meeting at Old Orchard Hall.

Robertson unsuccessfully ran for Port Moody council in October 2018.

The riding is currently held by BC NDP MLA Rick Glumac.

Meanwhile, the BC Greens in the Tri-Cities will meet April 5 at the City Centre branch of Coquitlam Public Library (1169 Pinetree Way) for an annual general meeting, starting at 2 p.m. The party’s deputy leader Jonina Campbell as well as James Marshall — the author of What Does Green Mean?: The History, People, and Ideas of the Green Party in Canada and Abroad — will also be at the event.

To run for an executive role on the riding association or to vote, attendees must have been a BC Green Party member for at least 14 days. Email Erik Minty at [email protected] about the riding association elections.

The next provincial election is set for Oct. 16, 2021.
