Calgary-born Rahul Sood and Sri Lankan native Anandan Arnold have become majority owners of the Jaffna Stallions of the newly formed Lanka Premier League (LPL).
Brindon Bagirathan, a 27-year-old British-based entrepreneur of Sri Lankan heritage, had been set for a major ownership stake but opted not to go ahead.
"I considered investing as a co-owner in Jaffna Stallions, but decided otherwise due to a forthcoming executive position at another franchise," Bagirathan said via social media.
The Stallions top the new five-team cricket league at 4-1-1.
A millionaire at 19 after creating Voodoo PC, the 47-year-old Sood is now co-founder and CEO of Unikrn (pronounced Unicorn), an esports betting platform that operates in 43 countries.
Sood, who now makes his home in the Seattle area, bought into the Stallions after a friend connected to the group called him up.
Arnold, a senior partner at BBK Partnership Chartered Accountants in the United Kingdom, serves as the Stallions chief executive officer. He and Sood are listed as the Stallions co-founders.
