The Centennial Centaurs senior girls soccer team pronounced its championship intentions Tuesday (April 19) at its turf field with a resounding 9-0 win over previously undefeated Riverside Rapids.
The win preserves Centennial’s unblemished record.
Tara Krsmanovic scored four times for the Centaurs, while Sarah Caravatta and Kaitlyn Johnson each scored twice against an understaffed Rapids team that spent much of the match on its heels in its own end.
Dani Cross opened the scoring for Centennial, volleying home a winner off a corner kick after just five minutes had been played.
Rapids’ coach Kenny Jamieson was philosophical about the setback.
“The game showed Centennial is still a tier above the rest of the competition,” he said. “When they are locked in, they are very strong on the ball and move with impressive fluidity and cohesion.”
The Rapids have an additional day to regroup before returning to action next Tuesday (April 26) against the Port Moody Blues in the final match of the regular season.
Centennial hosts the Heritage Woods Kodiaks on Thursday (April 21) before rounding out its schedule against Dr. Charles Best next Tuesday.
