Kodiaks, Ravens, Talons win hoop openers

Mohammad Dadfar added 13 points for the Kodiaks, who clearly won the tight affair on the free-throw stripe. The Kodiaks hit 76.5 per cent of their foul shots compared with only 45.5 for the Pipers.

Alex Thong and Mitchell Ligertwood contributed nine points apiece for Heritage Woods.

Later Wednesday, Ryan Sclater canned 18 points as the Terry Fox Ravens out-lasted east Vancouver's Charles Tupper Tigers, 69-51.

Bret Macdonald added 16 points for the Ravens, while Scott Hind and Matt Trimble had 14 and 13 respectively.

On Tuesday, the Gleneagle Talons advanced to the championship round via an easy 73-35 victory over the Prince George Polars.

Zack Usherwood rallied the Talons with 14 points, while Josh Langhans, Alex Kocek and Arash Mohammadi contributed 12 each. Brandon Arce netted 10 more for the winners as Gleneagle exhibited a well-balanced scoring attack that saw five players hit double digits.
