The Coquitlam Express have got that winning feeling. Again.
After enduring an eight-game losing streak, the BC Hockey League team won its third straight game Saturday, 3-1 over the Prince George Spruce Kings at the Rolling Mix Concrete Arena.
Matthew Campbell had a goal and an assist, while Ryan Tattle and Arlo Merritt also scored to comprise Coquitlam’s offence after Prince George opened the scoring in the first period.
"The boys are doing the little things right," said Express general manager Tali Campbell after the game. "As long as they keep that up, the wins will keep coming."
Campbell added the team's success on its swing into the Interior bodes well.
"This is what I would call a character weekend," he said. "It would have been easy for our guys to give up after the slow start we had, but they didn't. They came together as a brotherhood."
Express goaltender Connor Mackenzie made 40 saves while Jordan Fairlie faced 23 shots in the Spruce Kings’ net.
Coquitlam returns home for a game against the Trail Smoke Eaters on Friday, 7 p.m. at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.
