Jake Manfre scored twice and Noha Dziver and Luke Vardy added singles as the Coquitlam Express beat the visiting Powell River Kings 4-1 Friday at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex.
The win was Coquitlam’s fourth in its past six games, while Powell River has lost five in a row.
Manfre opened the scoring with a power play goal 3:10 into the first period.
After Powell River’s Alex Sandhu tied it early in the second period, Dziver and Vardy made it 3-1 for the Express heading into the final frame.
Adam Manji stopped 35 shots in Coquitlam’s net while his teammates fired 34 at the Kings Owen Crudale.
The Express host the league-leading Surrey Eagles, Saturday at 7 p.m.
The Eagles have lost only once in 17 games and three of its 16 wins have been over Coquitlam.
