Free entertainment for the whole family on Family Day?

That’s what the Coquitlam Express is offering thanks to the generous support of a sponsor that wants to remain anonymous.

Admission will be free to its game Feb. 19 against the Powell River Kings, scheduled to start at noon.

“Our goal is to create a memorable experience for families to come together, enjoy the thrilling sport of hockey and make lasting memories,” said Express general manager Tali Campbell in a news release.

In addition to the hockey game, there will be food trucks parked outside the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex as well as additional activities like face-painting stations throughout the game and even afterward.

Doors open at 11 a.m.

The Express currently sits in sixth place in the BC Hockey League’s Coastal division standings, three points behind the Chilliwack Chiefs but 10 ahead of the seventh place Cowichan Valley Capitals.

The team is coming off a seven-game stretch of road games, losing six.

The Express plays its first home game in more than a month on Wednesday, Jan. 24, when it hosts the Chiefs in a special noon start that will be attended by hundreds of kids from local schools.
