It may be an indoor day today (Jan. 12), depending on your to-do list.
Environment Canada is predicting between 50 and 100 mm of heavy rain to downpour across the Tri-Cities thanks to a frontal system coming from the coast, which could cause lots of pooling on the roads.
The warning was updated to as recent as 4:30 a.m. this morning, and says the rain could continue well into the night.
The expected total accumulation could also lead to localized flooding in low-lying areas of Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra.
Meteorologists are anticipating the rain to ease off by Friday (Jan. 13).
The rain could also court hazardous conditions for drivers, commuters and pedestrians in the region.
Environment Canada is encouraging everyone to proceed with caution, to turn on your vehicle's headlights when driving as visibility could be reduced and to maintain a safe distance between others.
Washouts are also a possibility near rivers, creeks and culverts.
The City of Coquitlam, for example, is encouraging its residents to clear neighbourhood catch basins to avoid pooling and flooding.
