A new meaning to the phrase, "let it snow!"
Roughly two days after nearly 35 cm of the heavy stuff accumulated across the Tri-Cities, a new snowfall warning is in effect for the region with an expected 10 cm by this afternoon (Feb. 28).
Environment Canada issued the alert before 7:30 a.m. today — the final day of February — as a "low pressure will continue to move across the south coast," meteorologists explained.
Schools and drivers
This is currently impacting the morning commute for Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra.
School District 43 (SD43) said classes are in session today despite the added snowfall.
However, in a statement, the Coquitlam-area authority reminded parents and guardians that "they may make their own decisions regarding the safety of their students based on individual circumstance and keep their child at home."
The fresh heavy snow is set to create slippery road conditions and visibility may be limited at times, especially at higher-elevated areas.
Commuters that need to venture out on the roads are being asked to slow down and drive to the conditions.
RCMP add drivers must clear their vehicle of snow before they leave and to ensure winter tires are on.
The province said, in a statement, its transportation ministry is stationed on the Port Mann Bridge this morning to clear any snow and ice that accumulates on the Coquitlam-Surrey connector.

City priorities
On Sunday morning (Feb. 26), Environment Canada recorded 31 cm of snow from the weekend for "East Coquitlam," according to the national agency's data showed.
This forced city crews in each Tri-Cities municipality to work around the clock to ensure roads were clear and sidewalks were salted.
Priority One routes are currently being plowed as a result of the new snowfall, and will move on to priorities two and three "when the weather permits."
In Coquitlam, collection crews are prioritizing garbage carts and have cancelled green cart pick-up for today.
In Port Coquitlam, all available snow clearing equipment has been mobilized as of 7 a.m.
The city said crews have salted priority one hills and overpasses.
