Coquitlam Express goalie Eric Young has been selected to participate in the BC Hockey League's prospects game as part of its all-star weekend in Salmon Arm in January.

Two more players from the Coquitlam Express are headed to the BC Hockey League’s (BCHL) all-star weekend in Salmon Arm, Jan. 17 to 19.

Goaltender Eric Young and forward Thomas Zocco will play in the league’s prospects game for top players eligible for the NHL draft along with exceptional 16- and 17-year old players.

They join teammate Sam Frandina, who will participate in the three-on-three all-star tournament and skill competition.

Young, 19, has been the league’s busiest goalie so far this season. In the 23 games he’s played, he has 13 wins and seven losses — two of those in overtime.

Young also has one shutout.

“Eric has been a big part of our early success this year,” said Express head coach Jeff Wagner in a news release.

“He makes big saves and gives us a chance to win every night.”

In 24 games, 18-year-old Zocco has 20 points, including eight goals. One of those was a thrilling individual rush to score the overtime winner against the Chilliwack Chiefs last Saturday, Dec. 7.

“Thomas is an exciting player to watch,” said Wagner.

“He has a slippery skill set and an ability to make big time plays in big time moments.”

The prospects game will be played Jan. 17, while the all-star tournament and skills competition occurs on Jan. 18.
