Two Coquitlam councillors back as Metro board reps in new year

Besides the Metro Vancouver appointments and nominations, Coquitlam council also named those who will lead the civic committees in 2025.

Two Coquitlam councillors will return to their seats at the Metro Vancouver board table in the new year.

Last week, city council unanimously voted to return Couns. Craig Hodge and Teri Towner to the regional authority to represent the municipality; both councillors carry four votes each.

Council also named Hodge and Towner, as well as Mayor Richard Stewart and Couns. Trish Mandewo, Dennis Marsden and Steve Kim, to serve on Metro committees in 2025 (asterisk denotes 2024 incumbent):

Coun. Robert Mazzarolo wished his colleagues luck with the nominations and hoped they get the appointments as “what goes on in Metro Vancouver has a significant impact on Coquitlam.”

Mayor Stewart, who was not at the Nov. 18 council meeting, stepped down as a Metro board member in 2023.

Currently, Metro board and committee members are paid $534 for a meeting up to four hours and $1,068 for a longer meeting. The daily remuneration is capped at $1,068.

Meanwhile, Coquitlam politicians last week also unanimously ratified the council member appointments for civic advisory committees, statutory entities and external bodies for 2025 (asterisk denotes 2024 incumbent):
