COVID-19 cases are starting to tick up again in the Tri-Cities after two weeks of declines, BC Centre for Disease Control data shows.
According to the latest Local Health Area tally, there were 130 cases in the week of Sept. 19 to 25.
That’s a slight jump from 111 posted the previous week after it appeared that COVID-19 cases were starting to drop from a high of 196 in the first week of September.
Case numbers had been dropping for two-weeks in September until this latest data showing an uptick.
Here's how many COVID-19 cases were reported in September, according to BCCDC.
- Aug. 29-Sept. 4: 196
- Sept. 6-11: 165
- Sept. 12-18: 111
- Sept. 19-25: 130
- Total: 602 cases
The jump in cases likely reflects school COVID-19 cases, which are also being posted on the Fraser Health school exposure website, as well as on the BC COVID Tracker, which receives the information from details submitted by parents.
Those two websites show school cases are starting to mount at both elementary and secondary schools in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam, with some schools having multiple dates of exposure.
On Fraser Health’s website, the following schools are listed:
- CABE (Sept. 17)
- Centennial Secondary (Sept. 23)
- Dr. Charles Best Secondary (Sept. 22, 23 and 24)
- Gleneagle Secondary (Sept. 20, 21, 22 and 23)
- Hampton Park Elementary (Sept. 16)
- Suwa’lkh School (Sept. 20)
Typically schools are removed to the list after 14 days.
