Tri-City craft brewers picked up national and provincial awards last weekend at contests in New Westminster.
On Friday, Oct. 18, during the B.C. Craft Brewers Conference, officials with the Canada Beer Cup handed out awards at the Anvil Centre Theatre in the Royal City.
Port Moody’s Rewind Beer picked up a silver for its Tape Deck suds (Czech Pale category) while the Changing Colours Brewing Project of Port Coquitlam won second for its Neat Neat Neat (Hoppy Lager).
PoCo Brothers also earned a silver for their PB Dark Lager (Dark Lager) and the now-defunct Train Wreck Brewing in Port Moody reaped gold for its English Pale Ale (English Style Bitter and Pale Ale).
Port Coquitlam’s Taylight Brewing took silver for Pirates Treasure Golden Ale (Golden Ale).
The champion of the 2024 Canada Beer Cup was Pile O’Bones Brewing of Regina, Sask., for its Quark, Strangeness, Charm (Witbier style). Silver went to Line 12 by Quayles Brewery of Oro-Medonte, Ont., and bronze for Tous Les Jours by Dageraad Brewing in Burnaby.

Meanwhile, the following night, also in the Royal City, the BC Beer Awards poured accolades on the Tri-Cities’ craft brewers.
Port Moody’s Yellow Dog Brewing Co. claimed a gold for Chase My Tail Pale Ale (North American Pale Ale), a silver for its Retriever Golden Ale (Hoppy UK Ale) and a bronze for the Roll Over Cerveza Negra (Amber Lager).
Also along Brewers Row in Port Moody, The Parkside Brewery gained second place for its Dawn Pilsner (Pale Bitter German Lager) and third for the Dusk Pale Ale (North American Pale Ale) while Moody Ales took a silver for its Lavender Sour (Spice Beer).
In Port Coquitlam, Patina Brewing won second for its Italian Pilsner (Specialty Beer).
Overall, provincial judges awarded the Best in Show prize to Vancouver’s Strange Fellows Brewing for its Coolship Lambic and the Brewery of the Year award went to Twin City Brewing Company of Port Alberni.
The Judge’s Choice was presented to Dageraad Brewing for its Belgian Blond Ale and the Rookie of the Year title went to Bevan Brewing and Blending.
